Volume Loss
Facial volume loss is a gradual process influenced by multiple layers of change within the skin and deeper facial tissues.
A consultation can help determine suitable treatment options to support your individual skin concerns.
How Facial Structure Changes with Age
Facial volume loss is a gradual process that can affect the overall shape, contour, and balance of the face. As the underlying support structures change over time, features such as flattening of the cheeks, hollowing under the eyes, reduced lip fullness, and decreased jawline definition may become more noticeable.
These changes are influenced by a combination of intrinsic ageing and external factors, including sun exposure and lifestyle habits.
Fat pad loss: Facial fat is distributed in distinct compartments that provide shape, lift, and support to the face. With age, these fat pads gradually decrease in size and can shift position, particularly in areas such as the cheeks, temples, and under the eyes. This may contribute to a loss of facial fullness and changes in facial contours.
Collagen and structural support changes: As collagen and elastin production declines with age, the skin and underlying tissues lose some of their strength, elasticity, and resilience. This reduction in structural support can make volume loss more apparent and contribute to changes in facial definition over time.
